Fire Department

Overview

The Valley Center Fire Department is comprised of four full-time Firefighters who are on duty 7 days a week from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm with 16 paid on-call Firefighters who respond in after hours. Our response areas include the City of Valley Center and surrounding townships. The Fire Department is headed by Chief Lonnie Tormey who is a 41-year veteran of the Department.

We run automatic and mutual aid response with the Sedgwick County Fire Department to areas outside of our city limits. We have a fleet of six vehicles consisting of one engine, one engine / tender, two squads, one tender, and a duty officer's pickup truck. We received a AFG grant for our engine / tender in February of 2004.
