The Valley Center Fire Department is comprised of two full-time Firefighters who are on duty Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, with 18 paid on-call Firefighters. Our response areas include the City of Valley Center and surrounding townships. The Fire Department is headed by Chief Lonnie Tormey who is a 39-year veteran of the Department.
We run automatic and mutual aid response with the Sedgwick County Fire Department to areas outside of our city limits. We have a fleet of six vehicles consisting of one engine, one engine / tender, two squads, one tender, and a duty officer's pickup truck. We received a AFG grant for our engine / tender in February of 2004.
