To promote a clean and attractive community in which residents and businesses thrive through strategic quality of place and economic development activities and initiatives.
 

Functions


  • Review of Zoning, Subdivision, Floodplain, and Building Applications
  • Maintain official City of Valley Center Zoning Map (see Zoning Map)
  • Enforce all City of Valley Center Zoning and Subdivision Regulations
  • Serve as city staff to the City of Valley Center Planning and Zoning Board and Economic Development Board 
  • Administer City of Valley Center's Housing Incentive Program
  • Oversee all residential and commercial construction and zoning permits issued in the City of Valley Center
  • Conduct all residential building inspections
  • Coordinate with Sedgwick County's MABCD for commercial building inspections
  • Direct the community's CRS (Community Rating System) Program with U.S. FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency)
  • Direct local economic development initiatives, including tax abatements and business expansion/retention programs
